About Me.

Debra Thompson is a mixed media artist born in Hawkes’ Bay.

Since 2017, Thompson has received awards and solo exhibitions, making

her a force in the world of contemporary art. Her work has been donated

to the Hawkes Bay Opera House ToiToi.

Drawing inspiration from the world of pop art, she delves deep into the

legacies of iconic figures such as Takashi Murakami, Andy Warhol, and

Wayne Thiebaud. Thompson synthesizes these influences to create a

visual language uniquely her own, where vibrant colours and pop culture

collide in a contemporary fusion.

She uses many materials, including spray paint, primarily acrylics on

board.

Debra Thompson is a contributor to the Hawkes Bay art scene, a

contemporary visionary who combines the dynamism of urban life with

the magnetism of pop culture.
